'Adoption is a lifelong commitment'

G.O.A.'L. has issued a press release concerning the Hong Kong adoption case ...

"Legality of Adoptee Relinquishment Case Questioned"

"A child is not a returnable product: Adoption is a lifelong
commitment."

Updated 12/12/07:
Guess the family has issued a statement as well ...

"Dutch diplomat says family treatment of adopted daughter is misrepresented"

Dutch couple gives up Korean adoptee after 7 years

"Couple gives up girl, 7, adopted here as a baby"

"Dutch diplomat in Hong Kong returns South Korean girl adopted 7 years ago"

"Mystery over rejected child"

The articles state that the couple had biological children of their own after adopting the girl. Makes me wonder if this couple is fit to be parents at all.

Jane Austen series on Masterpiece Theatre

What a way to start the new year ...

Beginning Sunday, January 13, PBS' Masterpiece Theatre will showcase all six of Jane Austen's novels, including the 1995 "Pride and Prejudice" BBC miniseries with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy it looks like. The series will also include an Austen biography, "Miss Austen Regrets."

The 2008 season also features a new adaptation of E.M. Forster's Room With a View, although I loved the 1985 James Ivory version with Helena Bonham Carter and Julian Sands (Whatever happened to him? Lost track of him after "Arachnophobia").

Gillian Anderson will be the new host of the Masterpiece Classic series.

Other interesting news, Anderson and David Duchovny (David Duchovny, why don't you love me?) are set to start filming an "X-Files" sequel later this month.
